DRC: the MP Muhindo Nzangi sentenced to 3 years in prison farm
National
MP Muhindo Nzangi required a sentence of 3 years in prison for
endangering the security of the State. The verdict of the supreme Court
of justice fell Tuesday 13 August in Kinshasa at the end of a trial in
proceedings of flagrante. Judges do not retained against him charges of
contempt to the head of State as requested by the Crown.
During
a show in which he participated Sunday, August 11 radio Kivu One
emitting in Goma, the MP Muhindo Nzangi had questioned the Congolese
authorities in the war taking place in Nord-Kivu. He had been arrested
at the end of this show and brought back to Kinshasa under military
escort. Judgement in delicto procedure had started the next day.
“Condemn
a member of three years. It is very severe. The supreme court is not
the tradition of condemning sentences. Then it’s the time that remains
for the mandate, meaning that there is a will somewhere to silence this
member for North Kivu. This is very serious for us all, for democracy.
It is shocking, especially since it is rendered first and last spring.
We do not use”, said Mr. Ruffin Lukoo, his lawyer.
